Creating a Compilation Tape

You submit a compilation tape of your best nature-related footage. We review your compilation tape and select all footage that is appropriate for the site. Below is the information you will need to submit your footage.

QUALITY STANDARDS

Video quality standards are a key priority for NatureFootage. All footage must be acquired on MiniDV (3-chip cameras only), DVCam, Betacam SP, Digital Betacam, High Definition, 16mm or 35mm film, or other digital video formats. Your footage should be assembled in a way which ensures no (or minimal) loss of quality.

Additional factors we consider are:

  1. Image Quality: Critical focus and appropriate exposure.
  2. Composition: Aesthetically acceptable composition and smooth movement.
  3. Content: Relevant to the collection submitted, interesting, and sellable.

NatureFootage reserves the right to deny clips that do no meet these standards.

SUBMISSION TAPE

For all source media other than DV, HDV or DVCProHD, you must submit a Master
Compilation Tape (MCT) and an MCT Clone with embedded timecode that matches your
MCT. The MCT Clone can be supplied on DV tape (NTSC or PAL), or as digital files (SD or
HD formats) on a hard drive (which we will return) or data DVD. DV source media may be
submitted on either tape, a hard drive (which we will return), or on data DVD. HDV and
DVCProHD source media must be submitted in their native formats on a hard drive or data
DVD.

Your submission media should have NO visible timecode or watermarks, and should be
assembled in a way that ensures no, or minimal, loss of quality (e.g., via SDI or Firewire for
digital formats or via Component for analog formats). Each shot should be no longer than 30
seconds, unless absolutely necessary. The shot you define is the exact product that will be
licensed. Add a 1-2 second handle at the beginning and end of any significant action (e.g.,
shark swims through frame). For tape submissions, each shot must be separated by
approximately 2 seconds of black. There must be NO transitions between shots.
