It’s the third week of March in the northern most part of the Rocky Mountains as spring has officially begun, although the temperatures are still reaching lows of -29 Celsius and snow continues to fall. However this doesn’t stop the Raven from preparing her nest. She uses the winter coat of the Wood Bison to line it, which in turn helps the Bison to ready for warmer weather.

I found myself curious as to why the Raven’s were plucking the fur from the Wood Bison this past year. With my 4K cinema Sony F55 and Canon’s ultimate lens, I persevered through some challenging conditions to acquire this material. Hiking in the deep snow up a steep hill was difficult enough but then faced with the bitter cold winds made it a real test of will.

My goal was to tell a strong visual story, one which I have not yet been able to find. I intended it to be part of a much bigger narrative addressing the symbiotic relationships between various species including man. Their instincts and nature given built in abilities. A fundamental understanding between different classes of animals and their ability to survive as well as adapt.
